Fall into temptation with Alhaurin el Grande
One could not count the amount of reasons to love Alhaurin el Grande, there is just too many to count. Alhaurin el Grande is a unique town situated inland, north of Mijas and an amazing opportunity to entirely immerse yourself into authentic Spanish life. Coín is the closest town, only 8km away. All in all Alhaurin el Grande is a superb location to being your dreams in southern Spain.
Yet again, it runs on the slower churns of life very much like Mijas or Alhaurin de la Torre. Once more, it is a haven from more commercial towns and cities but still retains a good transport network to and fro. Population size is minimal compared to larger cities, with a rural community of only 23K people living there.
The town itself holds great shopping prospects with a lively market every Saturday with Andalusian locals selling their fresh produce and crafts. On the Sunday, refresh yourself with a hike up the Sierra de Mijas whereby you will encounter not only a glorious view but, if lucky, even a iberian mountain goat.
Wine and dine with style
Wander around in the evening warmth to find a meal or two. Sprawled around you can find many tasty tapas bars serving hot tapas and rich red wine. If your appetite longs for more but within budget you can find a menu del dia, daily menu, to find a delicious meal for a reasonable cost.
Depending on your taste for nightlife, you can choose between new and old town. Between new, lively bars and nightclubs and the subtle traditional eateries in the old. Although, the wildest nights in the town and pleasantly lively and respect the residents around.
As you may know, the Spanish do like their ferias and fiestas for which can be found all year round and to add, very family friendly.
